I've worked in STEM education, skills, careers and diversity policy formulation since 2002. This has ranged from indirect work for Government Departments via professional and learned bodies to independent consultancy. I also had a spell with BSI which is illustrated below. There are two key issues in this area: policy may not always be evidence-informed; and the devil is in the detail. Generic policy may look great, but what often matters is how it is supported, specified and delivered.
